Principal clarinet--Tang Weiguo


Tang Weiguo, principal clarinetist of Guiyang Symphony Orchestra, Before joining the Guiyang Symphony Orchestra in 2009, he served as principal clarinet of the EOS Orchestra and he is an active clarinetist who is a regularly deputies of the National Opera Orchestra of China.

Tang studied at the Xi’an Conservatory, where he graduated with a Bachelor Degree in the class of Prof. Chi Zheng in 2005. Following his graduation from Xi’an, He continued his studies in Beijing with Fan Lei at EOS Orchestra Academy at Central Conservatory on Artist Diploma in 2006. During his time as a student, Tang participated in masterclasses with some of the famous clarinetists in the world including Guy Dangain, Robert Walzel, Wolfgang Meyer, Michael Rusinek, Wenzel Fuchs and Andrew Simon.

Tang was one of the members of Canton International Summer Music Academy under the music director Charles Dutoit in summer 2005 studied with Michael Rusinek.

Tang has performed as a soloist with many Chinese orchestras. He has recorded a CD of the Weber Concerto No1 with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Central University of Nationalities. 

Tang won number of Prize in the major Chinese Competitions, including: 1st Prize of the National Clarinet Competition in 2001, 2nd Prize of II.Young Artists Concerto Competition in 2005.
